Wayne Fletcher

Wayne Fletcher, a dedicated farmer and respected veteran, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Born on Tuesday, August 28, 1945, in Arkansas, Wayne devoted his life to the land and the community, working tirelessly for many area farmers throughout his career.

Wayne's commitment to his family was the cornerstone of his life. He was a devoted husband to Barbara Burke Fletcher, with whom he shared a loving home in Steele, Missouri. As a father, he nurtured and supported his children: Richard Fletcher of Tennessee, Frankie Fletcher of Florida, Chris Edgin of Kennett, Missouri, and Leah Jo Clark of Kennett, Missouri. Wayne was also proud to be a grandfather to four grandchildren and a great-grandfather to eleven great-grandchildren.

Wayne's strong family bonds extended to his six brothers—William Fletcher of Kennett, Missouri; Alvin Fletcher of Paragould, Arkansas; Edgar Fletcher of Arbyrd, Missouri; Sam Fletcher of Mexico; Roy Fletcher of Texas; and Joe Fletcher of Florida—who carry forward his legacy.

His early years were shaped by the love and lessons from his parents, whose memories he cherished deeply. Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved daughters, Sandra Estes and Cindy Sherrell, grandsons Michael Edgin and Eric Sherrell, brothers Danny, Gene, Melvin, and Doug Fletcher, as well as sisters Vernell, Linda, and Shirley.

Wayne's life was marked by steadfast dedication, both to his work and to his loved ones. His contributions as a farmer enriched the agricultural community around him, and his service as a veteran reflected his unwavering commitment to his country.

In accordance with his and his family's wishes, no services are being planned at this time. Wayne Fletcher’s enduring spirit and the indelible mark he left on those who knew him will be remembered with respect and fondness.

Powell Funeral & Cremation Services, Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
