Sonja Lanell Stanton

View Funeral Webcast Sonja Lanell Stanton, daughter of Huey James Marrow and Eva Jean Graham, was born on Saturday, April 12, 1975, in Kennett, MO and departed this life on Monday, December 16, 2024, in Pensacola, Florida at the age of 49 years 8 months 4 days. Sonja, a native of Kennett, was an US Army Veteran, having served her country as a Military Police Soldier, in Korea, and Fort Carson, Colorado. She spent the past twenty years continuing to serve Soldiers and their families working at the Human Resources Command at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Sonja and her husband, Patrick, moved to Florida in March 2023 to retire and build their dream home. She continued her life of service by working with children and youth at Dorcas Baptist Church Sonja is survived by her husband, Patrick O. Stanton; two sons, Steven P. Stanton and Zachary J. Stanton; father, Huey James Marrow; mother, Eva Jean Graham; three brothers, Huey Marrow, Jr., James C. Graham, Thomas Graham; sisters in law; Frances Graham-Cruz, Lori Marrow, Ashley Graham and Marie Stanton. Sonja also called a few more people out there her kids, you know who you are. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Chapel in Kennett. Funeral services will be held there on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Immediately following the funeral service, a celebration of life will be at the VFW Building, 1101 Veteran Street, Kennett, MO. Sonja was able to gift the gift of life through organ donation. The family has requested that in lieu of donations and flowers, those who would like to honor Sonja either donate to a charity or pay it forward by doing something nice for a stranger or buy a gift for someone you love. Sonja would want everyone to be happy this time of year. She was the beam of light in the dark, and the kind voice when you needed to hear one.
