Rodney Lawless

Rodney Glen Lawless, son of the late Homer Lawless, Jr. and Bonnie Sue Smith Lawless, was born on Wednesday, August 1, 1962, in Kennett, Missouri, and departed this life on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas at the age of 63 years 4 months 8 days.

He was the Owner and Operator of Rodney Lawless Heating & Cooling in Kennett. Rodney was known for his unwavering work ethic, seldom taking a day off from his responsibilities. He was a person of great integrity, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, no matter the hour.

Rodney took immense pride in his work, and his commitment to serving the community was evident to all who knew him. His hobbies did not include hunting or fishing; rather, Rodney found fulfillment in his labor, which was a true reflection of his character and dedication. He held a special place in the community, being a longtime member of the Third Street Baptist Church in Kennett, where he was able to share his kindness with others.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Lawless; his sons, Joey Mitchell and Derek Mitchell, both of Kennett, MO; and his sister, Susan Lawless Vowels, along with her husband, Matt, of Heber Springs, Arkansas; his nephew, Dr. Peyton Vowels of North Little Rock, Arkansas, and his nieces, Maddie Vowels and Heidi Vowels, both of Conway, Arkansas, other relatives and many friends.

Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Homer Lawless, Jr.; his mother, Bonnie Sue Smith Lawless; and his brother, Daniel Bruce Lawless. The loss of Rodney will be felt deeply by all who knew him, as he was a person who genuinely cared for others and made a lasting impression on the hearts of many.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Third Street Baptist Church in Kennett, with Brother Johnny Bogle officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. and continue until the time of service. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.
