Robert James Simmons, son of the late James Edward and Rosie Lee Simmons, was born on Thursday, November 1, 1951, in Newport, AR and departed this life on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, AR at the age of 72 years 9 months 19 days. Survivors include a son, James Edward Simmons of Little Rock, AR; a daughter, Lowanda Simmons of Maumelle, AR; brothers, John Henry Simmons of Tuckerman, AR, Nathaniel Simmons of Searcy, AR, William Terry Simmons of Brookland, AR; sisters, Dorothy Jean Simmons Jones of Jonesboro, Josephine Marie Piggee of Kennett, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Robert James Simmons, Jr.; brothers, Jesse, A. D., Wilie George, & Bobby Simmons; sisters, Rosetta Simmons, Leopa Simmons & Mary Lee Graves. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Powell Funeral Chapel in Kennett. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and continue until the time of service. Powell Funeral & Cremation Services, Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
