Rickie Mitchell, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at his residence in Kennett, Missouri at the age of 74 years 10 months 19 days. He was born on Monday, June 25, 2026, in Watervliet, Michigan to the late James Mitchell and Genelda Green Mitchell.
Rickie dedicated many years to working in area grocery stores, where he was known for his commitment and service until his retirement. Beyond his professional life, Rickie’s heart was deeply rooted in his love for the Lord and his family. He lived life to the fullest, finding joy in simple pleasures such as playing pool, a game he cherished alongside his many pool friends.
He leaves behind a loving family who stood by his side at the time of his passing. His devoted wife of 49 years, Norma Jean Mitchell, a steadfast partner through all seasons of life, survives him. Rickie is also survived by his two sons, Jason Mitchell and Tyler Kenndy, and two daughters, Sarah Payne and Angela Morris. His legacy thrives in his five grandchildren—Chloe, Blake, and Reese Payne, and Jordan and Natalie Mitchell—as well as his great-granddaughter, Milakate Payne Williamson. Additionally, the family includes eight more grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Rickie’s presence will be deeply missed, yet comfort can be found knowing he now rests in the arms of Jesus, free from pain and suffering. His loved ones remember him as a child of God who lived with passion and grace. As they say goodbye, they hold close the image of Rickie flying high, a testament to a life well-lived and a faith unwavering.
He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing, a testament to the love and bonds he cultivated throughout his journey. Rickie Mitchell’s memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Chapel in Kennett with Brother Doug Clinton officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. and continue until the time of service. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett.
