Melinda Sue Wellington

Melinda Sue Wellington, daughter of Teddy Wayne Nelson, Sr. and Shirley Evelyn Brown, was born on Thursday, September 11, 1969, in Kennett, Missouri and departed this life on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro at the age of 55 years 10 months 30 days. Melinda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. On July 4, 2013, in Wayne County, Missouri she was united in marriage to Sam Wellington. He survives of their home in Holcomb. Other survivors include two sons, James Nelson and Michael Nelson, both of Paragould, Arkansas; daughter, Valarae Nelson of Holcomb; brothers, Timothy Nelson of Preston, Maryland, Teddy Wayne Nelson, Jr. of Marston, Missouri, Brian Markham of Fredericktown, Missouri; sister, Bobbi Markham of Fredericktown, Missouri; grandchildren, Brantley Nelson, Easton Nelson, Makayla Nelson, Michael Nelson, Jr., Carl Nelson, Jimmy Nelson, Destiny Evans, Joshua Evans, Jr., Elisha Evans, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Christopher Nelson. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Powell Funeral Chapel in Kennett. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue until the time of service. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett. Pallbearers will be Valarae Nelson, James Nelson, Michael Nelson, Tim Nelson, Teddy Wayne Nelson, Jr. & Sam Wellington. Powell Funeral & Cremation Services, Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
