Mary Ruth Shrum

Mary Ruth Shrum, daughter of the late Henry Barnes and Arkie Johnson Barnes, was born on Thursday, December 5, 1935, in Hamilton, AL and departed this life on Friday, February 7, 2025, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro at the age of 89 years 2 months 2 days. Mary, a resident of Senath, had worked for many years as a CNA at the Senath Nursing Home. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. On August 15, 1986, in Kennett she was united in marriage to Bill Shrum. He preceded her in death on December 23, 2014. She is survived by her son, Warren Jaques and wife, Jami of Kennett; two daughters, Lori Montgomery and Danny Constant of Senath, Mary Allen and husband, Kenny of Kennesaw, GA; stepchildren, Robbie, Cheryl, Diane & family; sister, Edith Lyons of Campbell; grandchildren, Jennifer Montgomery, Holly Hoover, Jamie Plunkett, Gabby Jaques; great-grandchildren, Oliver & Evelyn Hoover, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Arkie Johnson Barnes and two brothers, Wayne & Wade Barnes. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Chapel in Kennett with Reverend Doug Clinton and Reverend Matt Davidson officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. and continue until the time of service. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett. Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny Allen, Joel Plunkett, Matt Davis, Danny Constant, Tim Dinkins, Mike Childers. Powell Funeral & Cremation Services, Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
