Larry (Sam) Ray Wages, son of the late Eber Hoyt Wages and Mary Lou Morphis Wages, was born on Monday, February 20, 1950, in Pontotoc, Mississippi and departed this life on Friday, September 18, 2026, at National Health Care in Kennett at the age of 76 years 6 months 29 day.
Sam had worked for area cotton gins. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the U. S. Army. His hobbies included fishing and hunting especially rabbit hunting. He loved being outdoors, but his first love was to his wife and family.
On January 7, 1984, he was united in marriage to Sharon Charlene Hicks. She preceded him in death on December 20, 2021.
He was the loving father of Samatha Waddell & husband, Jacob of Holcomb, Missouri, Kristy Musgrove & husband, Jeffery of Southaven, Mississippi, Steven Wages of House Springs, Missouri; beloved grandfather of Beckett & Wes Waddell, Andrew & Alex Moore, and Hunter Wages; dear brother of Debra Mace of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Hicks Wages, his parents, Eber Hoyt & Mary Lou Wages and sisters, Charlotte Ellis & Patricia Brown.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Powell Funeral Chapel in Kennett with Pastor Michael Burke officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue until the time of service. Burial will follow in Mounds Cemetery in New Madrid, Missouri.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jacob Waddell, Alex Moore, Andrew Moore, Jeffery Musgrove, Jeremy Allgood, & Steven Wages.
Powell Funeral & Cremation Services, Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
