Larry Metheny

Larry Lee Metheny was born November 26, 1939, in Leachville, Arkansas, and transitioned to his eternal home on December 12, 2021. He was 82 years of age. Larry was the fifth of nine children born to parents, Glen and Della Metheny. He was raised on a farm near Leachville in Northeast Arkansas. Summers were spent working in the fields chopping cotton & tending to daily chores. After graduating from Leachville High School in 1958, he attended Arkansas State College, where he earned a degree in accounting in 1961. A short time later, Metheny earned his Master's degree from Memphis State University. He practiced accounting in Kennett as a CPA for nearly 50 years. He was a faithful member of the Slicer Street Church of Christ where he served as a teacher, deacon, and an elder. He was also a member of the Kennett Lions Club, serving for nearly three decades. He was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Arkansas State Red Wolves, and the Arkansas Razorbacks. Surviving family members include his wife, Anne Adele Hardin Metheny of Kennett; two sons, Brad Metheny of Kennett and Glen Metheny (Gretchen) of Searcy, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Mackenzie Hope Metheny of Campbell, MO, Molly Hardin Vaughn (Tyler) of Poplar Bluff, MO, Noah Bejamin Metheny of Kennett, Sally Anne Metheny of Kennett, Griffin Alan Metheny (Maddie) of Odessa, FL, Caroline Grace "Gracie" Metheny and Gabrielle Paige "Gabby" Metheny of Searcy, Arkansas; one sister, Sonya Hossman of Paragould, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews, extended family members and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Children's Home, Inc. of Paragould or Crowley's Ridge College of Paragould. Powell Funeral & Cremation Services, Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
