Johnny Lane Brooks, a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, at the Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett, Missouri. Born on September 30, 1950, in Senath, Missouri, Johnny made a lasting impact through his career and personal life, leaving behind a legacy of love and service.
Johnny worked for over 25 years as an electrical lineman for the Kennett Boards of Public Works. He found joy not only in his profession but also in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed singing and was known to partake in line dancing. In addition to his role in the family, Johnny was active with the Delta Children's Home in Kennett, having served as a foster parent to approximately 200 children. He was a member of the New Hope General Baptist Church in Holcomb.
His survives include his son, Jeremy Brooks and his wife, Crystal, of Gray, Georgia; his daughters, Joni Byers and her husband, Bradley, of Kennett, Missouri, Rebecca Arjona and her husband, Jaime, of Clarkton, Missouri; mother of his children, Connie Brooks Decker of Pocahontas, Arkansas; his grandchildren: Morgan Brooks, Johnny Brooks, Skylar Brooks, Dylan Grimsley, Erica Ealom, Rylan McCormick, Gage Arjona, Michael Byers, Nicholas Byers, Brooks Byers, and Hadley Byers; his great-grandchildren, Tatum Banon, Roman Brooks, Mason Smith, Wrenley Brooks, Presley Grimsley, Raelyn Brooks, Ryder Brooks, and Arabella McCormick; his brother, Tony Brooks & wife, Karen of Heber Springs, Arkansas, other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Cleo Brooks; his mother, Leota Pearl McDaniel Brooks; and his brothers Bill, Bob, and Donald Brooks.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Chapel in Kennett with Pastor Derrick Gouldman officiating. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. and continue until the time of service.
Memorial contributions may be given to the New Hope General Baptist Church, 604 N. Main Street, Clarkton, Missouri 63837.
