Joan Jones

Joan A. Jones, 78, of Steele, Missouri, Passed away on September 29, 2026, at Heritage Nursing Center.

Joan was born May 15, 1948, in Tucson, Arizona, to Herbert and Lucile Perrydore. She married Larry Paul Jones on April 1, 1966, and together they raised two sones, Paul ad Jeff.

Joan and Larry owned and operated a trucking business, where Joan kept the books and handled the financial side of the business. She had a longtime interest in genealogy and enjoyed researching and preserving her family's history. She was also involved with the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Her grandchildren held a special place in her life, and she treasured being involved in their lives and activities. In later years, Joan and Larry enjoyed camping together, almost always with their dogs along for the trip.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Paul Jones, two sons; Paul (Patti) Jones of Senath, Missouri, Jeff (Melisa) Jones of Steele, Missouri, six grandchildren; Katie Jones and her fiancé Josh Whitton of Castle Rock, Colorado, Clint (Christan) Jones of Senath, Missouri, Jessica (Dallas) Shands of Arbyrd, Missouri, Maegan (Larry) Wood of Cardwell, Missouri, Maegan Brees and her fiancé Justin Brimhall, of Steele, Missouri, Annabeth (Chad) Wineland of Jonesboro, Arkansas, eight great-grandchildren, Christopher Paul Jones, Fisher Shands, Cypress Shands, Ridge Shands, Jaklyn Wood, Kynlee Wood, Hazel Blaire Brimhall, Vada Mae Brimhall, one brother; Troy Perrydore of Sweetwater, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Lucille Perrydore, two brothers; Herbert "Herbie" Perrydore, Dennis Perrydore, and her grandson; Jake Jones.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Powell Funeral Chapel in Kennett, Missouri. A graveside service will immediately follow at Memorial Gardens with Brother John Dunavant officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
