Jamie Bernard Childress

Jamie Bernard Childress, son of Ester Childress and Sylvester Artis, was born on Tuesday, November 4, 1986 in Kennett, MO and departed this life on Thursday, March 12, 2020 in Kennett at the age of 33 years, 4 months and 8 days. He had worked at ARI as a supervisor and later transitioned to Monroe. In his spare time he enjoyed being a barber. Survivors include his mother, Ester Childress of Kennett; son, Braxton Jai Childress of Kennett; brother, Mario Childress of Kennett; sisters, Veronica Childress of Kennett and Sue Ellen Wilbourn and her husband, Samuel of Jonesboro; grandmother, Joesphine Piggee of Kennett, a host of other brothers and sisters, along with nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; special nephews, Verrius Ellis and Lafayette (Bae-Bae) Ellis, III; special cousins, Dennis Childress, Larry Jones, and special uncle, Robert Simmons; special friends, Anthony Weaver, Harvey Washington, Wesley Jackson, Christopher Timothy, Alan White, Joey Tribble and Cody Robinson. Jamie was preceded in death by his grandparents, Willie Charles, Sr., Ann Sue Childress; aunt, Sarah Mackfield; uncles, Bobby Joe Childress and Ellis Childress. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Greater Community Temple, 1120 Crawford St., Kennett, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will begin there at 1:00 p.m. Powell Funeral & Cremation Services, Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
