Hearsteen Campbell McGraw was born to Jim and Syless Campbell on February 29th, 1935, in Friars Point, Mississippi. She peacefully transitioned on September 10th, 2025, at her home in Kennett, Missouri, at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willie McGraw, Sr, eight brothers, four sisters, and her grandson.
Growing up in Mississippi, she worked alongside her family and friends as sharecroppers, learning the value of hard work and community. As a young girl, she loved to cook and eventually worked at a local cafe, where she met Willie McGraw, Sr.
Hearesteen was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her faith and love for God guided her through life, and she touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. She was blessed with six daughters: Martha Williams (3 children, Oklahoma), Linda and Terry Smith (8 children, Kennett, MO), Diane McGraw (KCMO), Hearesteen (Pat) McGraw (2 children, Austin, TX), Ruth and Eddie Brown, Jr. (6 children, Kennett, MO), Brenda Holmes (4 children, KCMO), and Willie McGraw, Jr. (3 children, Malden, MO).
Hearesteen's legacy lives on through her 22 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering love will forever remain in our hearts. We are grateful for the time we shared and cherish her memory always.
Mom enjoyed gardening, cooking, and antiquing, always finding joy in these hobbies. She loved spending time talking with family and friends, sharing stories and laughter. No matter what she was doing, she was always willing to lend a helping hand. Her warm, caring nature made a beloved presence in the lives of those around her.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Chapel in Kennett with Bishop Luke Robinson officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. and continue until the time of service. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.
