Glendil Ray Burress, Sr.

March 2, 1943 — July 10, 2020

Glendil Ray Burress, Sr., son of the late Albert Nathan Burress and Myrtle Lee Burress, was born on Tuesday, March 2, 1943 in Frailey, MO and departed this life on Friday, July 10, 2020 at his residence in Hornersville at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 8 days. He had worked as a barber in Kennett and Steele. In addition, he bought and sold automobiles and worked as a security guard. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Glendil was a member of the Hornersville Baptist Church, a US Army veteran, and member of the American Legion Post 362 in Hornersville. Survivors include a son, Glendil Ray Burress, Jr., and his wife, Lorie of Blytheville, AR, daughters, Candy Lynn Bates and her husband, Jeff of Dyersburg, TN, Karen Dawn Holmes and her husband, Tony of Blytheville, AR; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Alfred & Winfred Burress, and a sister, Nellie Lacey. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, 1:00 p.m., at Powell Funeral Chapel in Kennett with Reverend Paul Moore officiating. Visitation will begin there at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett. Powell Funeral & Cremation Services, Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
