Gary Don Nixon

View Funeral Webcast Gary Don Nixon, son of the late Lee Edward Nixon and Alma Jean Gargus Nixon, was born on Sunday, April 22, 1951, in Gideon and departed this life on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro at the age of 73 years 7 months 12 days. Gary was a family man who was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a retired employee of Emerson Electric in Kennett. On March 12, 1971, in Kennett he was united in marriage to Kay Mayberry. He is survived by his wife of 53+ years, Kay Mayberry Nixon; his son, Chad Clay Nixon (Dezziraee Nixon) of Kennett; his daughter, Chastity Dawn Nixon (J. J. Hamlett) of Kennett; grandchildren, Logan Nixon Belcher (Shawn Belcher), McKenzie Biggs Chambliss (Greg McKillion), William Randle Biggs, III (Kyleigh Portwood), Clayton Siebert, Makenna Nixon, Rylan Nixon, and two bonus grandchildren, Jace & Nova Hamlett; great-grandchildren, Blake, Carson, Zane, Annley, Kruz, Myla-Kate, Rome, West, Liam, Hendyn, Mayleigh, Blakleigh & Kashton; brother, Jimmy Nixon of Kennett; sisters, Judy Bailey & Debbie Jones, both of Kennett, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Richard, Danny & Duke Nixon and a sister, Barbara Sue Nixon. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Chapel in Kennett with Mr. James Powell officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. and continue until the time of service. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Nixon, J. J. Hamlett, William Biggs, III, Shawn Belcher, Gregory McKillion, & Leonard Nixon. Honorary pallbearers will be Clayton Siebert, Carson Belcher, Zane Belcher, Rylan Nixon, Kruz Chambliss, Rome McKillion, Liam Biggs, Kashton Biggs, & Jace Hamlett. Powell Funeral & Cremation Services, Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
