Gary Wayne Miller was the son of the late Elvis Miller and Delola Gertrude Boyt Miller. He was born on Thursday, May 27, 1937. He departed this life on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at his residence in Piggott, Arkansas. He was 88 years, 2 months and 10 days. Survivors include: His beloved wife of 68 years, Sue Ann Miller of Piggott, Arkansas, formally of Kennett, Missouri. He leaves 3 children, Leigha Harris and husband Michael of Ooltewah, Tennessee. Lisa Smith and husband Terrell of Mountain Home, Arkansas Chris Miller and wife Tonya of Piggott, Arkansas. He leaves three siblings, James Miller and wife Jonell of Kennett, Missouri Helen Mathis and wife Allan of Kennett, Missouri Pat Freeman of Kennett, MO He leaves 6 grandchildren, Zachary Harris (Sara) of Knoxville, Tennessee Hillary Gee of Blytheville, Arkansas. Taylor Hodnett (Kyle) of Chattanooga, Tennessee Hannah Thaxton of Mountain Home, Arkansas Logan Miller of Piggott, Arkansas Dillon Lesslie of Piggott, Arkansas He also leaves behind 9 great grandchildren. Briggs and Ella Kate Gee Hunter, Kately, and Houston Harris Charlotte, Jackson, and Cooper Hodnett Charlotte Thaxton Gary was proceeded in death by one sister Brenda Joiner and husband Bill of Marion, Arkansas and one brother, Rocky Lynn Miller of Kennett, Missouri. Gary was a Christian who loved and served his Lord and Savior in many capacities during his life. He was a deacon, an elder, sang in the praise team and was also a song director at many local churches in Kennett and the surrounding area. Gary was also a proud member of the MO Army National Guard where he served in the infantry for several years. Gary was beloved by all his family and friends. Gary began his career at a young age by working in his father Elvis’ business “Miller Sporting Goods” located in Kennett, MO. He later started his own business “Gary Miller’s Used Cars and Truck Accessories”. He was the consummate salesman. If it could be bought and sold, he did it. Those that knew him knew of his passion for hunting and fishing. If it was duck season or deer season, you could find him in his duck blind or deer stand. He loved spending time in his boat at Realfoot Lake and Lake Okeechobee, Florida. It was never too hot or too cold to hunt or fish. This is a passion and a legacy that he has passed down to his son and grandson’s. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be sent to Shriner’s Hospital of St. Louis, Missouri or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital of Memphis, Tennessee. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett, Missouri. Powell Funeral & Cremation Services, Kennett is in charge of arrangements. Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
