Gary Dale Butler, Sr.

Gary Dale Butler, Sr., son of the late Gwen Butler and Lois Floyd, was born on Tuesday, January 1, 1957, in Hayti, Missouri and departed this life on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 69 years 7 months 2 days.

Gary had been employed with the Plastene Supply Company in Portageville.  He retired after many years of faithful and dedicated service.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

His survives include, two sons, Chris Young & wife, Melissa of Bragg City, Missouri, Tim Young & wife, Madison of Manila, Arkansas; daughter, Ginger Atchinson of Gobler, Missouri; grandchildren, Hayley Bailey, Joe Whitfield, Addy Whitfield, Logan Young, Kyle Young, Emily Young, Gavin Butler, Garrett Butler, Tatum Young, Austin Butler, Lillie Jo; great-grandchildren, Waylon, Wyatt, Zeke & Larz Butler; three brothers, Luke Boggs of Lilbourn, Alan Ellenburg & wife, Tommie of Bernie, Missouri, Lyndel Butler of Wardell, Missouri; sister, Karen Butler of Lilbourn, other relatives and  many friends

He was preceded in death by his late wife Barbara Butler, parents; Gwen Butler and Lois Floyd, his stepfather, Herbert Floyd, his son, Dale Butler and his sisters, Carla Dye and Carlene Ellenburg.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, 6:00 - 8:00 pm, at the Powell Funeral Chapel in Kennett.  Graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the Portageville Cemetery in Portageville, Missouri.
