Freda Carter, daughter of the late Harold and Ella Mae Litaker, was born on Friday, November 5, 1943 in Kennett and departed this life on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 26 days. In 1984, in Piggott, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Jerome Carter. He preceded her in death on January 27, 2009. Survivors include her children, Stanley Staggs & wife Tessie of Kennett, Mickey Staggs & wife, Cristela of Kennett, Teresa Moss & husband, Donald of Hornersville, Timmy Staggs of Belleville, Arkansas, Rickey Staggs & wife, Josie of Kennett; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerome Carter, a son, Jimmy Staggs, a brother and 3 sisters. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., at the Powell Funeral Chapel in Kennett with the Reverend Chris Kennedy officiating. Visitation will begin there at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett. Powell Funeral & Cremation Services, Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
