Finis Jay Caldwell, Jr.

Finis Jay Caldwell, Jr., son of the late Finis Jay Caldwell, Sr. and Claire Elizabeth Smith Caldwell, was born on Saturday, February 8, 1936, in Caruthersville, Missouri and departed this life on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Southaven Assisted Living in Kennett at the age of 90 years 3 months 23 days.

Finis operated the family business, Caldwell Vending Company, for many years, but his true love was teaching the Bible.  He graduated high school from Harding Academy, then graduated from Harding University receiving a bachelor's degree, the M.R.E. Degree, the M.A. Degree and a M.Th. Degree from the Harding School of Religion. He had accumulated some 50 hours toward a Doctoral Degree.  He was known for his writing ability and many books, including a biography entitled Dr. David Caldwell -- An 18th Century Flame for Christ. He enjoyed traveling to the Holy Lands as well as to nations surrounding the Mediterranean.

He was a long-time member of the Slicer Street Church of Christ in Kennett where he served as a deacon for many years. He was an avid Cardinal baseball fan and enjoyed fishing. He had been a member of the Kennett Kiwanis.

On August 23, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan he married his college sweetheart, Marilyn Lee Beal. She preceded him in death on November 30, 2022.

His survivors include his children, Tim Caldwell of Paragould, AR, Garrett Caldwell of Manila, AR, Craig Caldwell of Piggott, AR, Christine Harris and her husband, David of Jonesboro, AR, Jeremy Caldwell of Blytheville, AR & Kerry Caldwell and his wife, Jennifer of Goodlettsville, TN.  Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jade, Travis, Jordynn, Brandy & Collyns and his great-grandchildren, Bradley, Brantly, Dakota, Colt & Cash.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and his brother, Webb Norton Caldwell.

No services are planned at this time.
