View Funeral Webcast Earlene Melton, daughter of the late Earl Johnson and Ruby Garrett Johnson, was born on Wednesday, December 9, 1931, in Datto, Arkansas and departed this life on Sunday, July 14, 2024, in Poplar Bluff at the age of 92 years 7 months 5 days. Earlene had worked for Emerson Electric in Kennett having retired after many years of service. After her retirement she became a home healthcare worker. She was a member of the Slicer Street Church of Christ in Kennett. Survivors include a son, E. B. Ashabranner, Jr. & his wife, Connie of Cherokee Village, AR; three daughters, Judy Pope of Columbia, MO, Dana Hooten & her husband, Floyd of Nashville, TN, Sharon Wells of Nashville, TN; brother, Carl Johnson of Paragould, AR; 7 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl & Ruby Johnson and four brothers, Archie, Raymond, J. D., and James Johnson. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Powell Funeral Chapel in Kennett with Mr. Danny Johnson officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until the time of service. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett. Pallbearers will be Jesse Wells, Mason Wells, Wayland Hatch, Cole Wilkinson, Stone Wilkinson, & Michael Hooten. Powell Funeral & Cremation Services, Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
