Delbert Townsend

Delbert Townsend, of Campbell Missouri, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 16 days. Delbert was born on Tuesday, July 16, 1940 to Sara Aleene (Stone) and Leonard Townsend in Caruthersville, Missouri, and then raised with his mother, Aleene and step-father, Robert Sells. He was an over-the-road truck driver for many, many years and loved his job. After he retired he enjoyed his family, gardening, fishing and raising a variety of animals from peacocks, goats, dogs & cats. He gave his life to the Lord and was a member of the Beechwell General Baptist Church in Campbell. He was a devout Christian and loved everyone. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Townsend of the home; sons, Delbert Townsend of Norfork, AR and Jerry Don Townsend & wife, Michelle of Mountain Home, AR; daughters, Vicki Callahan & her husband, John of Sikeston, MO, LaVonda Rea & her husband, Rex, Angela Parnell & fiance', Jeff Stout, all of Norfork, AR, Lisa Perkins of Campbell and Tammy Fann & fiance', James Griffitts of Gray, TN; siblings, Bobbie Masters & her husband, Bill, Twylia Leiback & her husband, Donald, all of Hermann, MO, Larry Sells & his wife, Shirley of Kennett, Jerry Sells & his wife, Sharon of Rolla, MO, Rickey Sells & his wife, Debbie of Portageville, Vicki Rickett of Southaven, MS, Linda Kenner of North Little Rock, AR, Bobbi Williams of Germantown, TN; sister-in-law, Donna Sells of Holcomb; step-brothers, Ken Bullock & his wife, Shirley and Terry Bullock & his wife, Ann, all of Poplar Bluff, MO, Dennis Bullock and Danny Bullock & his wife, Carolyn, all of Kennett; 21 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and his aunt, Jean Gooden. He was preceded in death by his mother, Aleene Sells Bullock; his father, Leonard Townsend, step-father, Robert Sells and step-father, Robert Bullock; brothers, Ronnie Sells, Dennis Townsend and Leonard Townsend; sons, Danny Townsend and Marty O'Dell; grandson, Zachary Townsend. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Chapel in Kennett. Visitation will begin there at 12:00 p.m. Powell Funeral & Cremation Services, Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
