David Ray Smith

David Ray Smith, son of the late Joseph T. Smith and Mavis Hawkins Smith, was born on Wednesday, January 9, 1952 in Kennett and departed this life on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN at the age of 69 years, 7 months and 25 days. On March 24, 1972 in Steele, MO, he was united in marriage to Sheila Payne. David was the owner/operator of Dave's Auto Repair in Kennett. Survivors include his wife, Sheila Smith of the home in Kennett; daughter, Stacy McNew & her husband, Daimon of Dyersburg, TN; grandchildren, Drake and Lillian McNew, both of Dyersburg, TN; sisters, Diane Maddox of Baton Rouge, LA, Linda Murphy of Bernie, MO, Kay Danley of Murfreesboro, TN; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. No services are planned. Powell Funeral & Cremation Services, Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
