Carolyn Sue Sawyers, daughter of the late R. V. Duncan and Zelma Hall Duncan, was born on Saturday, March 9, 1946, in Pontiac, MI and departed this life on Monday, December 11, 2023, at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro at the age of 77 years 9 months 2 days. Carolyn, a resident of Paragould, was a homemaker and member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Paragould. On October 13, 1973, in Caruthersville she was united in marriage to Samuel J. Sawyers. Survivors include her husband, Samuel J. Sawyers; two sons, David Sawyers of Paragould, Chuck Sawyers & his wife, Rachel of Piggott; two daughters, Shona M. Howe & her husband, Ronnie of Paragould, Suzanne Willmuth of Little Rock; seven grandchildren, Heather Howe, Payton Howe, Madison Willmuth, Emily Willmuth, Hartley Willmuth, Haden Willmuth & wife, Kasyha, Sadie Winberry & husband, Hayden; two great-grandchildren, Ryan Willmuth, Reese Winberry, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Tyler Howe, brother, Belton Duncan, half-brother, Bill Hutchison, sister, Oma Lee Duncan and half-sister, Patricia Duncan. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Powell Funeral Chapel in Kennett with Reverend Kenny Johnson officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. and continue until the time of service. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett. Powell Funeral & Cremation Services, Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
