Brittany Jo Bowman

Brittany Jo Bowman, 41, of Kennett, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2026, with her family by her side under the loving care of hospice.

Brittany was born on July 12, 1985, in Kennett, Missouri. She graduated from Delta C-7 High School and spent her life surrounded by a family that loved her fiercely. She was raised alongside her brother, Matthew, and her Aunt Leslie by her mother, Denise Bowman, and grandmother, Roxie Bowman. Together, they taught Brittany to be strong, love her family fiercely, and never quit when life got hard.

Born with cerebral palsy, Brittany faced lifelong physical challenges and underwent numerous surgeries to improve her mobility. In her later years, Brittany relied on her wheelchair, but she never let it keep her from living life or loving her people. She met every challenge with resilience and determination and fiercely valued her independence. At times, that independent spirit led her to chart her own course, but it never diminished the love she held for her family or the joy she found in staying connected with those she cherished.

Nothing made Brittany happier than her family. She adored her nieces and nephews and never passed up an opportunity to babysit, celebrate their accomplishments, or simply spend time together. If somebody needed a babysitter, Brittany was usually the first one to volunteer. When getting out became harder, FaceTime became her front porch. She could spend hours catching up with family and friends, laughing, telling stories, and making sure everybody was doing okay.

She is survived by her grandparents, Carlyn and JoAnn Bowman; her brother, Matthew Bowman and his wife, Jennifer; her niece, Makenzy Bowman, Joshua Decker II, and their son, Joshua Decker III; her niece, Mika Bowman of Livonia, Michigan; her nephews, Matthew Bowman Jr., Brandon Mullen, Benjamin Turner, and A.J. Turner; her aunt, Leslie (Bowman) Hayes of Orlando, Florida; her aunt and uncle, Heather and Andrew Morrison; her aunt, Cathy Kirby; her cherished best friend, Latasha Johnson, and the Johnson family; along with many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Denise Bowman; her grandmother, Roxie Bowman; her sister, Jessica Godsey; and her uncle, Michael Hayes.

If Brittany taught us anything, it's that life's challenges don't get the final say. Love does. She showed us what determination looked like, loved her family with everything she had, and carried the unmistakable Bowman grit every single day.

Our hearts are broken, but we find peace knowing Brittany is finally whole again. We can only imagine the moment she wrapped her arms around her mama, Denise, and her Grandma Roxie. What a reunion that must have been. Until we see her again, we'll hold her close in our hearts, tell her stories, laugh at the memories, and miss her every single day.
