Betty Ruth Stevens

August 4, 1945 — May 7, 2020

Betty (Bet) Ruth Rasberry Stevens, 74, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020, at The Lutheran Home. She was born August 4, 1945, in Kennett, Missouri, the daughter of Willie Thomas-Andrew and Violet Marie Whitlock Rasberry. On August 16, 1981, she made a lifelong commitment to Robert Warren Stevens. They were married for 38 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Known as 'Mere Bet' to her grandchildren, Betty was the matriarch of the family. Seeing her with her grandchildren, you knew from her smile, the joy they gave her. Those who knew her best remember her celebrating a myriad of off-occasions, including her day after New Year's party. Her smile would light up the room, and her laughter was contagious. A consummate storyteller she shared her many adventures with everyone. But her stories were like her life. Family always came first. The love she had for her kids connected the entire family together. Many friends she took in like family and her family considered her a dear friend. Many referred to her as their second mom. Surviving Betty is her sister, Brenda Sue and her husband Bill Privett of Kennett, Missouri, her loving husband Robert (Bob) Warren Stevens of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and four children, Tammy Lee Maddock of Nashville, Tennessee, Tracy, and her husband Steve Kain of Jackson, Missouri, Chad Mauk of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Staci and her husband Joseph (Joe) Class, III, of Cape Girardeau, and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Edna Mae Rasberry and Muryl Rasberry Chadwell, brother Rex Charles Rasberry, and son, Warren Everett Stevens. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, May 11, 2020 at the Powell Funeral Chapel, Kennett. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett. Powell Funeral & Cremation Services, Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
